FASTING AND LOW CARB DIETS

Your fast shouldn't feel harder than it needs to.

Replace sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium with zero sugar and no maltodextrin.
- no artificial colours or flavours. Just real taste.

Zero sugarper serve
No maltodextrinor fillers
800 mg sodiumplus K, Mg and Ca
0.3 g carbsfrom the fruit powder - won't break most fasts

Feeling flat? It might not be hunger.

Headache, fatigue, cramps or light-headedness have many causes. Fasting and low-carb eating can change your water and sodium balance, so hydration is worth checking.

Why fasting changes your hydration needs

Less food

Can mean less sodium and other minerals coming in.

Lower carbohydrate intake

Changes stored glycogen, water and sodium handling. Insulin levels decline, leading to increased sodium excretion through the kidneys (natriuresis).

More plain water

Does not itself replace the electrolytes you lose.

FAQs

Will 0.3 g carbohydrate fit my fast?

That depends on how you define your fast. Purelyte contains approximately 0.3g carbohydrate per sachet and zero sugar. This will not break ketosis. For intermittent fasting, keto, Atkins, Mediterranean, or carnivore diets Purelyte is perfect for.

For religious fasting and water only fasts, use Purelyte outside your fasting window.

Why is sodium important during fasting?

When carbohydrate intake drops, insulin levels typically fall and the kidneys tend to excrete more sodium and water causing what is commonly called "keto flu". That can increase the importance of replacing sodium alongside fluids. Purelyte provides 800mg sodium per sachet, and sodium also plays a key role in fluid absorption — water follows absorbed sodium across the intestinal wall.

How do I know I am suffering Keto Flu?

Symptoms of keto flu can vary in intensity and may include:

  • Headaches and brain fog
  • Fatigue and irritability
  • Nausea and digestive issues such as constipation
  • Sugar cravings
  • Muscle cramps or lightheadedness
Can I use Purelyte with keto or carnivore eating?

Yes. Purelyte contains zero sugar, approximately 0.3g carbohydrate per sachet from the fruit powder and no maltodextrin, making it easy to incorporate into keto, low-carb and carnivore-style eating.

How many serves can I have?

Your needs will vary with the length of your fast, activity level, heat exposure, sweat loss and how much fluid you’re drinking. Follow the directions on the pack and adjust to your circumstances.

For longer fasts, electrolyte needs may also change, particularly for sodium, so choose the amount that fits both your hydration needs and your fasting protocol.

Generally, you should not be having more than 2 serves per day unless the conditions warrant more.
